Sources said several leaders were already bringing caste equations together, while some others had expressed their willingness to become the face of the party in the state ahead of the assembly polls.

Rajasthan BJP leaders are pinning high hopes on an organizational reshuffle and a change in the state unit with the appointment of Gulab Chand Kataria, who was the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, as the Governor of Assam. Many state leaders are hoping to make it to the list this time.

Party sources said there were many who had started putting together caste equations, while some had expressed their desire to become the face of the party in the state ahead of the assembly polls.

Many believe that the time has come for new leadership to be given charge of the state during this critical time. Given that the Congress is already a divided camp, the BJP is pinning its hopes on the tradition of the people by voting out the current government.

While the central leadership is tight-lipped on the reshuffle and changes, the state unit is talking about giving important roles to experienced members, including the appointment of the leader of the opposition.

“The post is important and is equivalent to that of a senior minister and thus, has several perks. The leader of the opposition is seen as the face of the party against the government in the assembly. Whoever gets the post, it holds an important place in the party’s strategy for the state,” said a senior leader.

Many believe that caste equations will play an important role. Several names are doing the rounds for the post – Deputy LOP and MLA Rajendra Rathod, Gyanchand Parakh, Vasudev Devnani, Pushpendra Singh Ranawat and Kailash Meghwal, who is also a former speaker of the assembly.

There are many who believe that there could be a change in the leadership of the state ahead of the elections and keeping in mind the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. For him, many senior leaders have also started expressing their desire to be appointed as the state president or head of the election campaign committee.

“While camps within the state unit are pushing the names of their leaders, all eyes are on the changes whenever it is announced. This will give a glimpse into the mind of the central leadership as to what they want from the state in 2024.
