Maha Shivratri 2023: About 21 lakh earthen lamps will be lit in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain city on February 18 under the ‘Shiv Jyoti Arpanam-2023’ program on the occasion of Mahashivratri. After the meeting held on Saturday to review the preparations for Mahashivaratri, Chief Minister Chouhan said in a statement that the festival of Mahashivaratri will be celebrated like Diwali on February 18 in Ujjain. Officials told in the meeting that under the Shiv Jyoti Arpanam program in Ujjain, earthen lamps will be lit at temples, commercial places, houses, on the banks of the Kshipra river and at important intersections and places in the city. Officials said prominent places in Ujjain would be decorated with electric decorations and rangolis (colourful patterns).

About 3 lakh 10 thousand lamps will be lit at Kedareshwar Ghat on the banks of Kshipra river, 1 lakh 75 thousand at Sunehri Ghat, 4 lakh 50 thousand at Dutt Akhara, 2 lakh 50 thousand from Ram Ghat to Bombay Dharamshala, 3 lakh 75 thousand from Bombay Dharamshala. . Bombay Dharamshala to Narasimha Temple. Along with this, there is a plan to light four lakh 75 thousand lamps at Mali Ghat towards Bhukhi Mata Temple.

He said that after lighting 11,71,078 diyas in Ujjain on Mahashivaratri last year, a world record would be set in 2022 by lighting 15.76 lakh diyas in Ayodhya city of Uttar Pradesh on Diwali. Officials told that this time the entire program in Ujjain on Mahashivratri will be based on ‘Zero Waste’ principle. More than 20,000 volunteers will participate in this program.
