PUNE: The Nigdi police arrested three casual workers for attempting to break open an ATM unit of a private bank at 1.55am on Friday at Transportnagar.
Police identified the arrested as Rajendra Popat Bade (35), Krushna Dhulya Rajput (28) both residents of Nigdi, and Sushant Kishor Ghodeshwar (24) of Vadarwadi for attempting to break open the ATM unit in Nigdi. Dinesh Shirke, a bank officer of Chakan lodged a complaint with the police.
Assistant inspector Amol Korde of Nigdi police said that the trio is homeless and decided to steal money from the ATM units. “They entered the ATM kiosk, removed the switch and power cable of the ATM unit and tried to break the rear panels of the machine,” he said.
The Mumbai server of the bank received a signal and alerted the Pimpri Chinchwad police’s control room.
