Dogs have their own way of communicating with us, but sometimes we understand and sometimes we don’t. So, Pet Parent should be your go-to dictionary for understanding what your beloved pet is trying to tell you.

Dogs have their own behavior dictionary. Their personality can affect their wider habits just like humans. It can be confusing to look at it from a single lens, but just like we can read a human’s body language and make some educated guesses about why they’re behaving the way they do, we can do the same with dogs. . You must have seen your furry companion doing something that shocked you and you are not alone. Yet figuring out what your dog is trying to do doesn’t have to be rocket science.

Here are 5 behaviors your pet may display and what they mean:

cutting

Like human babies, puppies learn to communicate with their mouths. Your fur baby may be snapping at you as they learn to communicate, and it usually happens when they’re playing, during training, or for no apparent reason. If your puppy is sniffling more often, it may be a good idea to stop it early. This may later go down to problematic behavior. Dogs always bite because of fear, anxiety or aggression. Recognize their moods and seek a professional trainer if this is a habit your pet has developed.

chase tail

This is typical behavior if your dog is running in circles chasing its tail. While in most cases tail chasing is just a playful activity, done excessively can mean something deeper. This could be a sign of a health or behavioral problem. Keep an eye on your pet if they tend to wag their tail and chew on it. This could mean that he may have some medical issue that needs attention.

barking or howling

A loud and rapid barking can indicate that a dog is acting aggressively or that they have sensed danger. On the other hand, small and soft bark means that your partner is behaving friendly. But if they are suddenly barking or squealing loudly, your pet needs help because they are in pain.

head press

This is one canine behavior that needs your immediate attention. If your dog is banging his head against a wall or some other hard object, it is a common sign of some serious underlying problems. This may include toxic poisoning or brain disease. Get help for your dog right away.

Leaning

The cutest behavior on the list is your dog leaning against you. The reason behind this is as simple as that, your lovely partner is in love with you and wants to be closer to you. They are not trying to dominate you, rather they are showing their affection. Some dogs may do this because of fear or insecurity. You can usually figure this out by observing your furry companion’s other behaviors.
