new year 2023 celebrations: Food delivery app Swiggy on Saturday (December 31) processed 3.50 lakh biryani orders and till 10.25 pm, the app dispatched over 61,000 pizzas across the country, according to company sources.

Swiggy also said that according to a survey conducted on Twitter, Hyderabadi Biryani received 75.4 per cent orders, followed by Lucknow-14.2 per cent and Kolkata-10.4 per cent.

“Biryani was the highest delivered item with 3.50 lakh orders,” sources told the media.

The app delivered 1.65 lakh biryani orders on Saturday at 7.20 pm. Bawarchi, one of the top biryani-selling restaurants in Hyderabad, delivered two biryanis per minute on 2021 New Year’s Eve and prepared 15 tonnes of the delicious dish to meet the demand for December 31, 2022.

In another tweet, Swiggy said, “@Dominos_India, 61,287 pizzas have been delivered, we can only imagine how many packets of oregano are going with them.”

It also said that 1.76 lakh packets of chips had been ordered on Swiggy Instamart till 7:00 pm on Saturday. Stating that 2,757 packets of Durex condoms were delivered by grocery delivery platform Swiggy Instamart, it requested people to order 4,212 more to make it 6,969 and can say good.

Around 12,344 people across India ordered Khichdi till 9.18 pm on New Year’s Eve.
