Woman creates ‘bomb panic’ at Mumbai airport after being asked to pay extra for luggage

Mumbai: A woman at the Mumbai airport asked to pay extra for extra baggage, and then suddenly she opened the bag and announced that it contained a bomb. CISF handed him over to Sahar police. After checking her bag, she did not reveal anything and the court released her on bail.

She lives in South Mumbai with her husband and two children. Her husband is an entrepreneur. She was scheduled to go to Kolkata on May 29 to see her mother.

She reached the SpiceJet baggage claim area around 5.30 pm and requested for a boarding pass. He gave me two suitcases to check-in. Airline policies allow one bag with a maximum weight of 15 kg for domestic travel. However, the woman had two bags of total 22.05 kg. He must pay the fee, but the woman refuses, claiming she has a bomb in her luggage. He was charged and sent to a local court, which granted him bail the next morning.

In her statement to the Sahar police, another airline executive said, “She started shouting and quarreling with the executive at the check-in counter. I told her to calm down and tried to explain the airline rules to her. But she was in no mood to listen and started arguing with me as well.

The two officers started talking to each other in Marathi, which further incensed the woman. He accused them of harassing people who did not speak Marathi. By this time CISF Inspector Muthu Kumar had arrived at the check-in counter. The officers explained what had happened and called their boss to inform them. Kumar had barely introduced himself to the woman when she suddenly shouted, “I have a bomb.”

Without losing any time, the CISF Inspector called the dog squad. However, the sniffer dogs did not find anything unusual in his bag. By this time SpiceJet’s security agents and supervisors had arrived. One of them dialed the police emergency hotline 100 and informed.

The Sahar police had charged the woman with ‘endangering the life and safety of others’. As per procedure he was not brought to the jail as it was after sunset. The next morning, she appeared in a local court and was granted bail. Sahar police said that they had submitted a charge sheet in the matter after completion of the investigation.
