Opposing wrestlers: Amid the ongoing probe into allegations of sexual harassment leveled by wrestlers, WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has said that his Ayodhya rally scheduled for June 5 has been postponed by a few days. Singh, a BJP MP and chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), has been accused of sexually abusing female wrestlers.

Singh, the BJP MP from Kaisarganj in Uttar Pradesh, said in a Facebook post that he has postponed the ‘Jan Chetna Maharally’ at Ram Katha Park by a few days due to the ongoing police investigation into the wrestlers’ allegations. against him.

However, an official told news agency PTI that permission for Singh’s rally had been denied. Circle officer (Ayodhya) SP Gautam said the permission sought by BJP corporator Chamela Devi has been denied on Singh’s behalf in view of other programs scheduled on June 5 on World Environment Day.

Meanwhile, at least two FIRs have been lodged against the WFI president which mentions 10 cases of molestation by players. Wrestlers have complained of ‘inappropriate touching, and asking for objectionable favours’. Some of the country’s top wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik, have been protesting against Brij Bhushan Singh since April 23 demanding his sacking from the federation and his arrest.
