The woman in the couple, Natalie Baker Lloyd, is a missionary and the daughter of Missouri US house of representatives member Ben Baker, who was killed along with her husband Davy Lloyd.

The bodies of Natalie Baker Lloyd, the daughter of US politician from the state of Missouri Ben Baker, and her husband Davy Lloyd, who were among the three missionaries shot and killed by a gang outside a church in the Haitian capital, were burnt after they were killed, according to reports by US news media outlets.

Ben Baker, a Republican and a House of Representatives member from the state, said he would not comment further on his daughter’s murder and would wait until he knew the couple’s bodies were “safe at the embassy”, according to the Kansas City Star.

A US couple was among three missionaries shot and killed by a gang outside a church in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince. The Caribbean nation and its capital have endured months of extreme violence with deadly assaults on hospitals, prisons and government buildings.

The Wall Street Journal said it reviewed a video that showed Davy and Natalie’s bodies sprawled on the floor of the home and Davy and Jude’s remains having been burned.

Missions in Haiti, an Oklahoma-based nonprofit founded in 2000, said Davy and Natalie Lloyd and a third person were killed in Port-au-Prince by armed men on Thursday evening.

The third victim was identified by US media outlets as Jude Montis, the Haitian director of Missions in Haiti.

David Lloyd, father of Davy Lloyd, told the Miami Herald that he was on the phone with his son and could hear the pandemonium on the other side of the call.

“I was on the phone with my son when that was going down. He said, ‘Dad we’ve got a commotion again. I’ve got to see what’s going on,’” David Lloyd, 48, was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

He had returned home to Oklahoma a day before leaving his son and daughter-in-law to take care of the mission’s school, children’s home, and bakery.

“Davy and Natalie and Jude were shot and killed by the gang about 9 o’clock this evening,” Missions in Haiti said on its Facebook page on Friday. “We all are devastated.”

According to a police spokesperson, “the bandits entered the house and looted it before murdering the missionaries.”

In an earlier Facebook post, Missions in Haiti said that the missionaries were ambushed by a gang traveling in three vehicles.

“Davy was taken to the house tied up and beat,” it said. “The gang then took our trucks and loaded everything up they wanted and left.”

Members of another gang then arrived and “went into full attack mode,” the post added.
