MumbaiThe Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has roped in Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to spread awareness about the COVID-19 vaccine and remove misinformation about vaccination. In a video message shared on the official Twitter handle of BMC, the ‘Bharat’ actor can be seen urging citizens to take their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. He requested everyone to follow social distancing, wash hands at regular intervals and wear masks to avoid the spread of the virus.
Salman stressed on the importance of getting vaccinated to protect oneself from coronavirus. He asked people not to believe in fake rumours, which are being spread on various social media platforms regarding the vaccine.
The BMC thanks the ‘Race 3’ star for making a sincere request to the citizens amid the COVID-19 crisis. The civic body’s official Twitter handle shared the video with the caption, “Be our ‘partner’ when it comes to debunking misinformation around vaccines – stop the further chain. Thank you @BeingSalmanKhan for urging us to bring #JabToBeatCorona at the earliest.”
Researchers have suggested that the third wave of COVID-19 may knock in India in the next few months. The country was battling the pandemic in the months of April and May, with the figure of 4 lakh per day. Several tinsel town celebs including Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar tested positive for COVID during this period.
Salman supported the industry workers during the first and second wave of coronavirus. His NGO offered food to the needy, who were badly affected by the health crisis.
On the professional front, Salman was last seen in ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’. The action drama co-starring Disha Patani, Randeep Hooda and Jackie Shroff premiered on May 13 on Zeeplex and major DTH platforms. The Prabhu Deva directorial garnered over 4.2 million views across all platforms on its opening day, despite garnering reviews.
Salman has many exciting projects in his kitty including ‘Tiger 3’ and ‘Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali’. He will once again work with Katrina Kaif for the third installment of the ‘Tiger’ franchise.
