Telugu actor and filmmaker Kathi Mahesh passes away due to accidental injuries

Popular Telugu actor, film critic, political analyst, satirist and Dalit intellectual Kathi Mahesh died at a Chennai hospital on Saturday while undergoing treatment for those injured in an accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district a fortnight ago.

“Shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Kathi Mahesh. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. may his soul rest in peace! Om Shanti,” said Tollywood actor Manchu Manoj.

Sudheer Babu, another young up-and-coming hero in the Telugu film industry, said that Mahesh’s demise came as a shock.

On June 26, Mahesh, a native of Chittoor district, met with an accident when his car collided with a container truck behind. Many believed that the film critics would survive but he succumbed to his injuries.

Mahesh was an outspoken critic of actor-politician and Janasena Party founder Pawan Kalyan and was known for his comments and commentaries on various subjects.

The Hyderabad University graduate had acted in several films and recently campaigned for the ruling YSRCP in the Tirupati parliamentary by-election.

As an intellectual from the Dalit community, Mahesh regularly campaigned and deliberated for their rights and protection.

Mahesh became a household name after participating in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 1 hosted by JR NTR. He was known for films like Edri Varsham, Minugululu, Pesarattu.
