West Bengal Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi on Saturday claimed that the adenovirus situation is improving in the state and there is a decline in daily cases, even as the state has recorded 19 deaths due to the infection so far .

Of the 19 deaths, 13 patients had serious co-morbidities, while six died due to acute adenovirus infection, he said, adding that the state has recorded 10,999 cases of Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI), most of them They are kids.

“We are seeing a declining trend in the number of adenovirus cases in the state. Earlier, we were registering 800-900 cases per day, which have come down to 550-600 per day at present. The situation is completely under control as of now. is,” he told reporters.

The IAS officer said that a task force was constituted during the day to oversee the work related to the control of adenovirus and H3N2 influenza cases in the state and treatment of the affected people.

Dwivedi said, “The task force will meet every evening to monitor the situation. The virus is constantly changing. There is an alert from the Union health ministry.”

He said that there has been a decline in referral cases from other districts to Kolkata.
