Rapid digitization has bridged the gap between big cities and small towns of India, including schools, hobby classes, restaurants, hospitals, PG accommodation services, beauty parlours, hostels, car rentals, hotels and tutorials Top 2022 -10 most searched services. According to a report by local search services firm Justdial.

“Even smaller cities are turning to the internet when it comes to searching for services, and in 2022 the number of searches in these cities were 2X that of larger cities. For the report, Justdial analyzed data from 700 smaller towns and cities across eight major cities, Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. It said that the year 2022 proved to be a transitional year for India, starting with the third COVID-19 wave in the country and gradually moving towards the removal of almost all pandemic related restrictions. As a result, there was an increase in searches in the education, health and tourism sectors, indicating the normalization of the economy.

“Our annual Discovery Report shows that rapid digitization has bridged the gap between India’s big cities and smaller towns and cities. There is a massive increase in online searches for services in India in 2022. Smaller towns and cities saw 2x the number of searches compared to larger cities. In 2021, it was 1.6X that of larger cities, and therefore shows that smaller towns and cities are getting online faster. With consumer services moving online, service providers across a wide range of services are increasingly using digital platforms to meet demand and Justdial is at the forefront of this revolution.”

It said that as Covid cases declined, Indians saw a 2x increase in demand for tour operators, foreign exchange agents, bungalows and resorts on rent as people took to travel. Searches for hotels grew by 40 percent and those for rental cars by 70 percent during the year.
