Rajasthan Cabinet Reshuffle Live Updates: Ahead of the proposed cabinet reshuffle, a meeting of the Rajasthan Council of Ministers is underway at Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s residence and the Chief of Staff has accepted the resignations of his ministers. He is expected to meet Governor Kalraj Mishra after the meeting.

The meeting started around 7 pm. Sources said the oath ceremony is likely to be held on Sunday. Govind Singh Dotasara, Harish Chaudhary and Raghu Sharma on Friday offered their resignations in writing to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

  • Those in the Ashok Gehlot’s camp include- Mahendra Jeet Singh Malviya, Shakuntala Rawat, Govind Ram Meghwal, Mahesh Joshi and Ramlal Jat.
  • On the other hand, MLAs close to Sachin Pilot- Murari Lal Meena, Ramesh Meena, Brijendra Ola and Hemaram Chaudhary will also administer the oath to the ministers.
  • The swearing-in ceremony of the new ministers is likely to be held at the Governor’s residence at 4 pm on Sunday.
  • Earlier on Saturday, Gehlot and AICC general secretary for Rajasthan Ajay Maken as well as PCC chief Dotasra addressed the Kisan Vijay Diwas gathering. After that Maken and Gehlot met in a hotel. Maken reached Jaipur last night and told reporters about the resignations of three ministers who wanted to work for the party. While Dotasara is the PCC chief, Harish Choudhary and Raghu Sharma are in charge of the party’s affairs in Punjab and Gujarat respectively.
  • Rajasthan can have a maximum of 30 ministers including the Chief Minister.
  • Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot’s camp had raised the demand for a reshuffle for several months with their supporters demanding inclusion in the government.
  • Apart from the Congress MLAs, the independents who supported the government and the MLAs who joined the Congress from the BSP also have hopes from the reshuffle. Gehlot had recently indicated that a reshuffle would happen soon.
