Priyanka Gandhi protests silently, claims ‘Yogi government is using police to kill democracy’

Lucknow: Congress General Secretary and UP in-charge Priyanka Gandhi has launched a scathing attack on the Uttar Pradesh government. He targeted the Adityanath government over the alleged misconduct during the panchayat elections.

Talking to reporters, Priyanka said that the Constitution is being flouted in UP and that is why the party has come to take a stand for democracy and its people.

Priyanka questioned the government’s statements on development.

“The elections were conducted during the second wave of COVID-19. Many people got infected with the virus. Many people also lost their lives, but the panchayat elections still went ahead,” she said.

Priyanka Gandhi talked about the violence during the election of District Panchayat President and Block Head.

He claimed that the police and administration have kidnapped the candidates. “Police picked up candidates going for nomination. Nomination papers were torn. Even women candidates were beaten up. The administration kept threatening people for votes. The Adityanath government is resorting to unfair means and Even using police to kill democracy,” she alleged.

Apart from this, the protest was also aimed at targeting the violence in the elections and the mistreatment of women.

The protest was also against rising inflation and unemployment in the state.
