Priyadarshan’s comedy film Akshay Kumar will go on floors next year

Filmmaker Priyadarshan has revealed that he will start shooting for his comedy film starring Akshay Kumar, next year. The actor-filmmaker duo has worked on several acclaimed comedies in the 2000s from the blockbuster “Hera Pheri” series, “Garam Masala” to “Bhool Bhulaiyaa”. Priyadarshan said that he was supposed to start the film with Akshay Kumar this year, but the project got hit due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We were supposed to start shooting for it this year, but it got delayed. It is a different kind of comedy film and now we are looking to start shooting for it early next year,” the director said.

On Saturday, Akshay shared a happy picture with filmmaker Priyadarshan. Akshay and Priyadarshan met on the sets of Raksha Bandhan, which will be directed by Aanand L Rai. He wrote in the caption, “When someone with a great sense of humour like Priyadarshir calls in, a day of hard work turns into a day of laughs! #HappinessBTS.”

Retweeting Akshay, Priyadarshan wrote, “After a long break, we are spending quality time discussing the next Hindi film and I am enjoying these discussions with Akshay Kumar.”

Priyadarshan is currently awaiting the release of his next film “Hungama 2”, which is slated to release on Disney+ Hotstar on July 23. The sequel, the director’s 2003 hit comedy of the same name, was set to hit theaters on Aug. 14 this year.

It stars actor Paresh Rawal, who is returning for the sequel, and the cast includes Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Meezaan Jaffrey and Pranitha Subhash.

Akshay has a huge lineup of films lined up for the upcoming year which includes Sooryavanshi, Raksha Bandhan, Prithviraj, Bell Bottom, Ram Setu and Bachchan Pandey. He will also be seen in Filhaal 2, the song that will mark his second music video after the 2019 hit song Filhaal. The music video which also stars Nupur Sanon will release on July 6.
