The atmosphere of the by-election in the Lok Sabha seat Sangrur has heated up. Congress candidate Dalveer Goldie, Akali-BSP candidate Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana and BJP’s Kewal Dhillon filed their nominations on Monday. Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate Gurmail Singh has already filed his nomination. Polling for the Sangrur seat will be held on June 23. Counting of votes will take place on June 27. The credibility of the Aam Aadmi Party, which is facing the ire of the youth after the Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala murder, is at stake here.
Know the candidates of Sangrur seat
- Gurmail Singh of Aam Aadmi Party is the district in-charge of the party in Sangrur. He is also the sarpanch from the gharachas. He had opened a front against giving 23 acres of Panchayati land to private people. After which he came into the discussion. Congress MLA from Sangrur Vijay Inder Singla was then the minister.
- Dalveer Goldie of Congress is a former MLA from Dhuri. In the last assembly elections, Bhagwant Mann defeated him by more than 58 thousand votes. This is Goldie’s first Lok Sabha election.
- Akali-BSP candidate Kamaldeep Kaur Rajoana is the sister of former CM Beant Singh murder case convict Balwant Rajoana. Akali Dal has given ticket to Kamaldeep making the issue of captive Sikhs.
- Only Dhillon of BJP has been MLA from Barnala. Some time ago Congress expelled him from the party. He joined the BJP two days back in the presence of Amit Shah in Chandigarh.
