Shaktimaan is the most loved Indian superhero character. Actor Mukesh Khanna played the role in the serial, which will now reportedly turn into a film. The OG Shaktimaan is quite choosy about the lead actor though it seems. According to reports, actor Ranveer Singh will be seen playing the role of Shaktimaan. Mukesh Khanna criticised this back in March, citing Ranveer Singh is not fit for the iconic role. Now, it appears that he might have changed his mind. Recently, Ranveer Singh visited Mukesh Khanna’s office. The OG Shaktimaan shared this by posting a video on Instagram. Sharing the video, Mukesh Khanna wrote, “The whole country wants to know. Who is Shaktimaan? Including me. Breaking news is pending. Speculation continues. It is sky high. Because those who want Shaktimaan are helpless. It has been spread across the country and even on television.”
He also added that recently he met the strong contender of the title, that is Ranveer Singh. Mukesh Khanna said they spoke a lot and discussed things. He added that no one knows who will get the project, not even him, because Shaktimaan is being made for the audience and not for him.
Last month, it was reported that Ranveer Singh would start shooting for Shaktimaan soon after completing Don 3. The film has been in the works for more than three years, and the crew has finally written a script that’s worthy of doing justice to the legacy of Shaktimaan.
Reports suggest director Basil Joseph, known for his work on Minnal Murali, has been working on the Shaktimaan script for more than two years. Joseph has come up with a new representation of Shaktimaan in the superhero genre that differs from his work with Tovino Thomas. The script is supposed to be more character-driven, with a strong emotional core, however action moments will still appear.
Shaktimaan is a Hindi-language superhero television show, created by Mukesh Khanna, that aired on DD National from September 13, 1997, to March 27, 2005. Ghalib Asad Bhopali and Brijmohan Pandey jointly wrote the show, and was directed by Dinker Jani.
