Pakistan says will settle Afghan refugees in special camps – Times of India

Islamabad: Pakistan announced a settlement on Tuesday afghan refugee In special camps set up on the border with Afghanistan.
Addressing a press conference after the cabinet meeting, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that Pakistan was expecting an influx of Afghan refugees amid the current unrest.
“We are trying our best to ensure that matters in Afghanistan are resolved peacefully. But, if the situation in Afghanistan worsens, Pakistan will have to bear the burden and we are working on it,” he said.
The minister said efforts would be made to set up camps along the border to prevent displaced Afghans from entering Pakistan.
The statement came after fighting between the Taliban and government forces sparked chaos in Afghanistan following the withdrawal of international troops from the war-torn country.
About 3 million Afghan refugees are living in Pakistan, about half of whom are living illegally. Pakistan is pushing to send them back, but if Afghanistan plunges into civil war, it may face new waves of refugees.
Chowdhury also spoke about the unrest in Balochistan province, saying the government was working to hold talks with the victims but there would be no talks with those having links with those involved in terrorism.
“Of course, the way to approach them will be different (for those involved in terrorism), but soon you will see that Balochistan will become a center of peace,” he said.
