Noida, Greater Noida says that the hail of premium liquor shops. Noida News – Times of India

Greater Noida: When it comes to Premium Liquor Shops, the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida A toast is raised.
In the last few months, more and more businessmen have shown interest in setting up premium liquor shops in the city.
Licenses for such outlets were introduced only last year, and initially there were only five vendors. But over time, 10 more stores have come up in the hypermarkets or supermarkets of Noida and Greater Noida.
officials said Excise Department The city will speed up the process of granting such permits in the coming financial year to encourage more premium liquor vends. “Renewal of licenses of existing shops will start within a few weeks, soon after the 2021-22 policy ends. We will contact existing players to find out if they want to renew their licenses. Many premium liquor shop owners have already approached us and we will expedite their approval,” said district excise officer RB Singh.
Business people said the absence of a quota system and low license fees are attracting more and more people to invest in the premium liquor business.
Shiva Kaushik and his family are also among those who sniffed the profits in liquor.
“We are operating two retail outlets in Noida. This is the first time we have forayed into the premium segment. It is a simple business without any tension or stress,” said Kaushik, co-owner of The Drink Lab at Supertech North Eye in Sector 74, one of the first such stores to open in the city.
When asked, Kaushik said, “These premium shops are the ones who want to buy expensive liquor or beer. Prices are prominently displayed on the bottles placed on the racks. This leaves little room for confusion. ”
The difference in the cost of license to open a premium outlet and an off shop is also a major factor. The annual license fee for a premium vendor is Rs 12 lakhs while that of running a beer or English wine outlet is comparatively higher. The final license fee for the last two categories may be two or three times the original fare after the auction.
Senior officials of the excise department said the license fee for premium vendors has been deliberately kept low. “The rent for opening a store in a hypermarket or supermarket in a prime area of the city is way too high. Also, it is important for such players to have a seamless renewal process so that they do not have to worry about investing a huge amount on interiors and infrastructure,” said a Lucknow official.
The places where premium liquor shops have started in the city recently include Garden Galleria, The Great India Place Mall, DLF Mall of India, Gaur City Mall and Gaur City Centre.
But it’s not all that encouraging for home bar licenses. Not a single resident has shown interest for such permits, which were offered in April last year. The idea was to give licenses to people who stock a large number of bottles of wine at home or who have mini-bars.
officials said home bar license Spend Rs 12,000 annually with a security deposit of Rs 51,000. “I can remember only two or three people from Kanpur who have applied for the license so far,” said the Lucknow official.
