Retirement age of High Court judges and bringing it at par with the retirement age of SC judges.

As of now, HC judges retire at the age of 62 and SC judges at 65 years of age. Law Minister Kiren Rijiju is likely to reply to the debate on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, holding the government responsible for the impasse in the Rajya Sabha, opposition members on Tuesday said they will continue their joint protest against the suspension of 12 MPs till it is withdrawn. The Upper House did not do any important work for the second day in a row as opposition parties continued their protest, demanding quashing of the action against the MPs. However, the government insisted that the suspended MPs must first apologize for the unruly conduct in the House. Addressing reporters outside Parliament, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that the suspension was against the rules and undemocratic.

He said that he would continue the dharna in support of the suspended members and sit with them on dharna. The Congress leader also urged the Lok Sabha members to join the dharna. “The government is solely responsible for the standoff in the Rajya Sabha. We have been meeting the Speaker and the government and have insisted that they cannot suspend members like this. They have wrongly and undemocraticly suspended 12 MPs for what happened during the last monsoon session.
