One person drowned in a mine filled with water during a picnic in Dahisar East area of ​​Mumbai on Tuesday evening and a search is on for the other, a police official said.

He said a group of seven youths from Gorai in Borivali suburb had gone to the Vaishali Nagar mine for a picnic amid heavy rains.

“The body of one person, who had gone to the reservoir, was recovered by the fire brigade officials, while the search for another is on. A case of accidental death has been registered,” a Dahisar police station official said.

A fire brigade official said the person whose body was retrieved from the mine has been identified as Shekhar Pappu Vishwakarma (19). He was declared brought dead on arrival at the civil hospital, the official said.
