An official said that the single-day case count has crossed the 1,000-mark after a gap of seven months, as the state recorded 1,076 cases on September 8 last year.

On Tuesday, the state had recorded 919 cases and one death.
Mumbai recorded 320 new cases and two deaths, followed by 93 in Pune city, which reported three deaths.
Two people died in Thane city, while neighboring Palghar and Vasai-Virar area of Akola district recorded one death each. The death rate in the state is 1.82 percent.
A total of 560 patients have recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 79,98,400. The recovery rate from Kovid-19 in the state is 98.11 percent.
The department said the state’s active case tally now stands at 5,421.
A total of 16,439 tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of tests in the state to 8,67,40,146.
