LUCKNOW : After canceling Congress’s pink marathons and rallies in view of spurt in cases covid, The BJP And this Samajwadi Party (SP) has also canceled its election programmes.
According to official sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed rally in Lucknow on January 9 is likely to be canceled in view of the COVID situation and inclement weather conditions.
“We have been informed about the cancellation through official communication in this regard,” a party functionary said.
Samajwadi Party has also canceled Vijay Rath Yatra on 7th January, 8th and 9th which was to be led by the party chief Akhilesh,
According to the schedule, Akhilesh was to address public meetings in Gonda, Basti and Ayodhya on January 7, 8 and 9 respectively.
SP leaders said that a decision on the meetings to be held after January 9 would be taken in the next few days after assessing the spread of Kovid-19.
Akhilesh’s visit to Ayodhya had created a lot of curiosity in the political circles as it was his first visit to the temple town this election season.
Recently, during his Ayodhya visit on 26 December, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had claimed that Akhilesh was planning to stop the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya if he came to power in the 2022 assembly elections.
However, the Samajwadi Party had dismissed Shah’s allegations as baseless. “The Ram temple in Ayodhya is being built in Ayodhya on the orders of the Supreme Court. No individual, party or authority in India has the guts to stop the construction. BJP knows it will be voted out and every day the SP is a tough target. Akhilesh had said in response to the allegation.
