Vanessa Hudgens shared that although going into the singing competition as a masked celebrity was a “special experience”, singing did not fall into her list of “priorities” at the moment.

Vanessa Hudgens has been crowned the winner of the American singing competition The Masked Singer (TMS) on May 22. The actress-singer participated in the 11th season of the popular television reality show alongside other celebrities. Premiered on the Fox channel, TMS sets the stage for famous singing icons to entertain the audience with their vocal prowess. However, they need to be disguised, putting on enormous animated masks to conceal their identity. On the finale night, the High School Musical alum disguised as Goldfish won over actor Scott Porter, impersonating Gumball. Ahead of her win, Vanessa Hudgens opened up on her plans to return to the music fraternity.

In an interaction with Billboard, Vanessa Hudgens shared that although going into the competition was a “special experience”, singing did not fall into her list of “priorities” at the moment. “I always say life is about priorities, and that is not a priority right now. I feel like it’s something I will always have in my back pocket,” she admitted. On whether it was her dream to win The Masked Singer trophy, Hudgens confessed that all she wanted was to have some fun. She continued that being anonymous on the stage was a “freeing experience” which got nothing to do with her “name or fame or celebrity”.

In the same interview, Vanessa Hudgens revealed that she was on a “self-discovery” journey that allowed her to express herself “freely” on the TMS stage. She added that music has taken a “backseat” as she is more focused on signing up for films presently. It has been about 15 years since Hudgens shifted gears from her musical career to her acting profession

Vanessa Hudgens sang legendary singer Elton John’s 1974 classic Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me at The Masked Singer’s gritty finale episode, reported People. The competition’s showrunner Scott Porter lent his voice to iconic rock band Styx’s 1979 hit Renegade. Hudgens and Porter survived 14 unmaskings throughout the show.

On the personal front, Vanessa Hudgens is expecting her first child with her husband and baseball player Cole Tucker. She flaunted her baby bump on the 2024 Oscars red carpet for the first time.
