Ind vs NZ: Rohit Sharma surpasses Virat Kohli to register highest 50-plus score in T20I cricket

New Delhi: Team India’s newly appointed T20 captain Rohit Sharma created history during the Ind vs NZ third T20 International being played at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on Sunday. Rohit, who scored his second consecutive fifty in the three-match T20 series, broke Virat Kohli’s big T20 record and became the first Indian batsman to achieve the incredible feat.

Among Indian batsmen, Rohit now holds the record for most fifties in T20I cricket. He achieved this feat in his 119th T20 International. Rohit completed his fifty in just 28 balls. This great opener scored his 26th half-century by hitting a six.

Earlier this record was jointly held by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Babar Azam is at number three in this list, as he has made 25 fifty plus in T20 cricket. David Warner has scored more than 50 runs 22 times in the shortest format.

Coming back in the Ind vs NZ 3rd T20I, Rohit Sharma was dismissed by spinner Ish Sodhi for 56 off 31 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 5 fours. India decided to bat first and set a target of 185 runs against the visitors.
