Google Pixel Watch may finally launch in 2022: Report

New Delhi: Since 2014, Google has been developing its own Wear OS software platform. However, the company has never sold a Google-branded smartwatch with Wear OS software. Over the years, there have been rumors of a smartwatch alongside the Pixel, A brand of consumer electronic devices developed by Google. According to a new report, the much-awaited and long-pending Google Pixel Watch may finally launch in 2022.

Pixel Watch is codenamed ‘Rohan’,

According to Business Insider, via The Verge, Google is planning to release a smartwatch under the codename Rohan, and is currently working on it. The tech giant is expected to run the latest version of Wear OS equipped with a circular design called “No Physical Bezel” with health and fitness tracking. The report states that Samsung produces its Galaxy Watch series in multiple sizes, but it is not known whether Google will also release its Pixel Watch in multiple sizes.

The watch will reportedly require daily charging like some other Wear OS smartwatches. Admittedly, it uses proprietary bands on watches like Apple. However, companies such as Fossil, Samsung and Mobvoi use standard bands on their watches, giving the watches thousands of affordable options for replacement bands.

Google previously confirmed in August 2018 that it would not release the Pixel Watch that year. A report in 2019 claimed that the watches had been cancelled.

A recent video about the Pixel Watch published by Front Page Tech mentions the same ‘Rohan’ codename. However, it is not known whether the render images depicted in the video are identical to Google’s current hardware design.
