Uttarakhand Assembly Elections: PM Modi to address rally in Doon on Saturday

Prime minister Narendra Modi The campaign for the upcoming Uttarakhand assembly elections was started by addressing a rally here on Saturday. State BJP General Secretary Kuldeep Kumar said that the Prime Minister will reach the parade ground of Dehradun at the rally venue at 12.30 pm. Soon after his arrival, he will inaugurate seven development projects and lay the foundation stone of 11 others, totaling more than Rs 18,000 crore, after which he will begin his address around 1 pm. The major projects to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi include the 120 MW Vyasi Hydroelectric Project and the 38-km stretch of the all-weather Chardham road project between Devprayag and Srikot on NH-58.

Besides this, he will also inaugurate a 33-km wide stretch between Brahmapuri and Kaudiyala on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway, which is part of the all-weather road project. The 11 development projects that PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for include the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, which will reduce the distance between the two cities to 180 km from the present 248 km. The PM will also lay the foundation stone for other infrastructure projects worth Rs 220 crore for Badrinath. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the infrastructure projects to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister will prove to be a milestone in the development of the state. Dhami said that they will help in industrialization of hilly areas, check migration and strengthen the economy of the state, which will greatly benefit the tourism sector. The BJP, which is expecting over one lakh people to vote in the PM’s rally, has thrown all its might to make it a huge success. State BJP General Secretary Ajay Kumar on Friday held a meeting with the presidents of various front parties of the party and took feedback on the preparations for the rally and issued necessary instructions to them. Chief Minister Dhami, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi, Union Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt and State BJP President Madan Kaushik visited the rally site on Friday and took stock of the various arrangements there. Dhami himself has been regularly visiting the venue for the past few days to review the progress.

Kaushik said that there is a lot of enthusiasm among the party workers with the Prime Minister’s rally as it is going to be a historic rally.
