Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant Inaugurated the new Primary Health Center at Ribandar on Saturday. He said that the center located in the old Goa Institute of Management campus is the first integrated health center in the state, from where the medical staff Goa Medical CollegeGoa Dental College and Directorate of Health Services will be present.
The 24×7 facility, with its dedicated 108 ambulance, will be a full fledged contingency unit with general outpatient department (OPD) and a laboratory for testing. Plans to procure X-ray machines, ultrasound machines and other key medical diagnostic equipment for PHCs are also in the pipeline. “There was a demand from the people for a health center in Ribandar. This is the first integrated health center with 108 ambulances, STEMI (ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction) services 24×7,” Sawant said after inaugurating the facility.
The locals had demanded a 20-bed, 24×7 full-fledged health center with X-ray, sonography, CT scan and MRI facilities, which would serve not only the Ribandar residents, but also the people of Old Goa, Korlim, Chorao, two panchayats. will also fulfill Divar, Chimbel and Mercs.
“It will be a full-fledged STEMI center 24×7 so that if any cardiac event occurs, it can be controlled,” the health minister said. Vishwajit Ranewho were present at the inauguration. “This place will have all the facilities so that the people of Ribandar do not have to go far for basic treatment. There is a 2D echocardiography machine that can transmit reports via telemedicine.
“In a few days, telemedicine services will also start across Goa. This would mean that at least half the people going to GMC or hospital will no longer have to travel as they can avail tele-consultation,” Sawant said.
