The CM said that he is writing this letter to draw the attention of the Prime Minister to the voices of protest being raised by leaders of several opposition parties, including some Chief Ministers of the state, regarding the arrest of Manish Sisodia.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan wrote a letter to the Prime Minister on Tuesday Narendra Modi On the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, said “to draw attention to the voices of protest being raised by leaders of several opposition parties”.

CM Vijayan’s letter states, ‘It is the golden principle of natural justice that justice should not only be done, but should also appear to be done.’

The CM said that he is writing this letter to draw the attention of the Prime Minister to the voices of protest being raised by leaders of several opposition parties, including some Chief Ministers of the state, regarding the arrest of Manish Sisodia.

Vijayan said in his letter, “While refraining from commenting on the merits of the case under investigation, I must point out that the arrest of Sisodia has further lent credence to some of the actions of the central investigative agencies. ,

The letter further states that Manish Sisodia is the elected representative of the people and has been appearing before them in response to the summons of the investigating agencies. Vijayan said in the letter, “Unless the arrest was mandatory to prevent obstruction of the investigation, it would have been a desirable course of action to avoid.”

The CM said, ‘According to the information coming to the public, no criminal incident like cash seizure has taken place in Sisodia’s case. While the law has to take its course, it is equally important that the widespread perception that Sisodia is being targeted for political reasons needs to be dispelled.”

The CM further said that as we insist on the principle of cooperative federalism, “excessive action on the part of anyone concerned should be avoided”.

The CM said, “I am hopeful that the Prime Minister’s guidance will go a long way in changing the present perception, which is reflected in the letter of important political leaders, including some chief ministers, in this matter.”

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had earlier launched a scathing attack against the central agencies and said that they were trying to interfere in the policies and projects of the state government including K-FON and Jeevan Mission project.

He also alleged that central agencies were being used by the Center for political gains.
