Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the situation after the earthquake in Tajikistan on Thursday. Official sources gave this information. A 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Tajikistan in the morning. He said that India is in touch with the authorities of Tajikistan for any possible assistance.
“The prime minister has taken stock of the situation and is monitoring developments related to the earthquake’s impact in Tajikistan,” a source said.
“We are in touch with the Tajikistan authorities and relevant Indian government entities are closely coordinating for any necessary assistance,” the source said. Earlier this month, India sent relief material as well as medical and rescue teams to Turkey following a powerful earthquake.
As part of the earthquake assistance, India also sent relief material and medicines to earthquake-hit Syria.
