In yet another ‘letter war’ between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Governor Banwarilal Purohit, the latter has objected to the CM’s language seeking permission to convene the budget session of the state assembly on March 3, terming it as ‘unconstitutional and highly derogatory’.

Punjab Governor Purohit said that he will take legal advice and only then take a decision on CM Bhagwant Mann’s request.

Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit wrote to CM Bhagwant, “Since your tweet and letter is not only unconstitutional but also highly defamatory, I am compelled to seek legal advice. I will take a decision on your request only after taking legal advice.” ” Mann is in favor of convening the assembly session on March 3.

Purohit had on February 13 questioned the selection of school principals to travel abroad for a training seminar, saying he had received complaints of “malpractices and illegalities”.

However, replying to Purohit’s letter, CM Bhagwant Mann had said, “Before asking the state government to clarify the criteria for sending headmasters to Singapore, the Governor should be informed by the Government of India to appoint a person to this prestigious post.” The qualifications being pursued should be stated.”

Mann had said, “The people of the state also want to know what criteria the Government of India follows for the appointment of governors in different states.”
