New Delhi: As concerns come amid the Omicron threat, Delhi on Sunday recorded 107 new coronavirus cases, the highest since June 27 and one death.
The city’s health department, which shared this data, said the Covid-19 positivity rate was 0.17 percent. The national capital had earlier recorded 259 Covid-19 cases and four deaths on June 27.
Earlier on Saturday, 86 new Kovid cases were registered in Delhi, while 69 cases were reported a day earlier.
So far in December, Delhi has recorded three deaths from Kovid-19. Earlier, seven people died in November, four in October and five in September.
The death toll from the infection in the national capital is 25,101.
Earlier on Friday, the total number of patients infected with the Omicron variant increased from 12 to 22.
The number of Covid cases reported in Delhi so far has reached 14,42,197, while more than 14 lakh patients have recovered from the infection.
Earlier on Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his government is ready to tackle the Omron version.
Speaking at the Christmas and New Year program organized by Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel at the assembly premises here, he said, “I have been holding meetings for the past few days and I want to assure the people that our government is ready to deal with Omicron. ” Reported.
As the Delhi government learned a lesson and worked on its shortcomings during the April wave of the pandemic, Kejriwal said: “In April this year, the fourth wave of Covid in Delhi claimed many lives. We took help from everyone and together we brought it under control.”
“We pray to God that there is no next wave, but if it does come, we will bring it under control as we did during the last wave of infections in April,” he said.
Advising the people not to panic, the Chief Minister said that even though this type of outbreak has been said to be faster than the earlier one, its symptoms were mild.
