The accused have been identified as Sushma Chatra, Shailja Chatra, Grishma Chatra, Vijendra Chatra and Suma Vijendra, residents of Kolegodu. He allegedly verbally abused Venkataraman and assaulted him as well. The plantation is owned by Laxminarayan Chatra.

Sankarnarayan police have registered a case under sections 504, 323, 324 of IPC and provisions of SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Police said the incident happened over a property dispute.
