Center sends high level team to Kanpur after Zika virus case report

The Health Ministry on Monday sent a high-level multidisciplinary team to Uttar Pradesh, where one case of Zika virus has been reported. A 57-year-old male from Kanpur tested positive for Zika virus disease on October 22, it said on Monday.

“Multi-disciplinary team comprising of an entomologist, public health specialist and gynecologist drawn from National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, National Center for Disease Control and Dr. RML Hospital, New Delhi has been deployed by the Ministry of Health to assist the state health authorities. have taken control and prevention measures,” it added.

Meanwhile, the recovery rate stood at 98.18 per cent, the highest since March 2020, with 18,762 cases being cured in the last 24 hours. With this, the total recoveries increased to 3,35,67,367.

Also, the number of active cases is less than 1 percent of the total cases, which is currently 0.49 percent, which is the lowest since March 2020. Moreover, India’s active caseload stood at 1,67,695, which is the lowest in the last 239 days. Further, the weekly positivity rate was 1.24 per cent, which was less than 2 per cent for the last 31 days, and the daily positivity rate was 1.43 per cent, which was less than 2 per cent for the last 21 days.

Apart from this, 60.07 crore tests have been conducted so far, in which 9.98 lakh tests were conducted on the previous day. Also, as of 9:30 pm on Monday, India has conducted 63.47 lakh tests comprising over 1028 crore vaccine doses administered so far. Moreover, according to the government, more than 12.75 crore vaccine doses are still available with the states/UTs in the form of remaining and unused shots that are to be administered.
