BJP’s Southern Push Before 2024: PM Modi to Address Telugu Kashi Sangam in Varanasi Next Week

The BJP is focusing on the assembly elections in Telangana this year as well as the Lok Sabha elections next year. There are clear instructions from the top leadership in Delhi to the state leadership to come down with full force against the KCR-led government

The BJP is working hard to expand its base in the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections in Telangana later this year. In this bid, the saffron camp Narendra Modi Will address the Telugu Kashi Sangam program in Varanasi on 29 April.

According to the organisers, the aim of the event is to reaffirm the bond between Telugu people and Kashi and thus, several cultural and religious events will be a part of this 12-day Pushkaralu festival in the Prime Minister’s constituency.

The festival will be held after a gap of 12 years on the banks of river Ganga. More than 20,000 Telugu speaking people from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will reach this holy city for this festival.

“Massive arrangements have been made to help people reach Varanasi. The buses will run on five special routes and there are special arrangements for Telugu people, including a 24-hour helpline and police patrolling. We have observed that a sizeable number of pilgrims visiting Kashi are Telugu, so arrangements are being made keeping in mind the challenges faced by them,” said GVL Narasimha Rao, chairman of the Kashi Telugu Committee and Rajya Sabha member.

Rao said there was no direct train from Visakhapatnam to Varanasi, but Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had agreed to run special trains for Kashi Telugu Sangam from Visakhapatnam as well as from Guntur, Tirupati and Secunderabad.

The BJP is focusing its full attention on Telangana, where elections are to be held at the end of the year. In fact, clear instructions have been given to the state leadership from Delhi to throw full force against the government headed by K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Top BJP leaders are visiting the state regularly. Even before this, BJP had organized its two-day national executive meeting in Hyderabad. In November 2022, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated a month-long Kashi Tamil Sangamam in Varanasi aimed at rediscovering, reaffirming and celebrating the age-old ties between Tamil Nadu and Kashi.
