Adani Power Begins Electricity Supply From Godda Plant To Bangladesh

New Delhi: Adani Power on Sunday said it has started supplying power to Bangladesh from its Godda plant in Jharkhand. Adani Power Limited (APL), a part of the diversified Adani Group, has commissioned the first 800 MW ultra-super-critical thermal power generation unit at Godda in Jharkhand. The plant has become operational with a supply of 748 MW of power to Bangladesh, the company said in a statement.

The power supplied from Godda will significantly improve the situation in the neighboring country as it will replace expensive power generated from liquid fuels, thereby reducing the average cost of power purchased. ,Also read: FD interest rates for senior citizens 2023: These banks are offering over 9%,

Its second 800 MW unit is expected to be commissioned soon.

Bangladesh has the largest liquid fuel based power generation plant in the Indian subcontinent region. Heavy fuel oil (HFO) based plants have an installed capacity of about 6,329 MW and high-speed diesel (HSD) based plants have an installed capacity of about 1,290 MW, taking the total to over 7,600 MW.

Although currently, Bangladesh has long-term PPA ties with three other imported coal-fired generators, the Godda plant’s overall tariff is competitive compared to peers.
