Delhi’s Saket Court has reserved the decision to frame charges against Aftab Poonawalla, the main accused in the Shraddha murder case. The next hearing of the case will be on April 29.

Meanwhile, Shraddha’s father Vikas appeals to the court to release Shraddha’s remains to perform the last rites. Delhi Police will file its reply on this only on April 29.

On the other hand, the house in Delhi where Shraddha was murdered. The owner of that house has also demanded removal of the seal on the house. The court has asked the lawyer to apply for this.

Arguments on charges against Aftab completed
A hearing was held in the Saket court on Saturday against Aftab Amin Poonawalla, accused of strangulating and cutting her live-in partner Shraddha Walkar into 35 pieces on May 18 last year. After the arguments were over, Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar reserved the order for framing of charges.

On the other hand, Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad said that the Delhi Police would file a reply to Shraddha’s father’s application on the next date of hearing.

Aftab’s lawyer said – murder-erasing evidence cannot be charged together
During the hearing held on Saturday, Aftab’s lawyer Abhishek Bhandari said that the accused cannot be charged with murder and destruction of evidence together. This should be considered while framing the charges. Because it would affect the rights of the accused.

Aftab, a chef by profession, and Shraddha Walkar, a call center worker, lived in a live-in relationship. While living in Delhi, on May 18, 2022, Aftab strangled his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar to death. Later his body was cut into 35 pieces and kept in the fridge. Then he was thrown in the forest of Mehrauli.

Delhi Police arrested Aftab on 12 November 2022. On January 24, the police filed a 6629-page charge sheet in this case.
