Yorkshire banned from hosting international matches: Azim Rafiq – Henry Club

Azim Rafiq said Yorkshire should be banned from hosting international matches to address allegations of racism as the county club is taking steps in the right direction to bring about change.

In November, 30-year-old ex England The Under-19 captain, who is of Pakistani origin and played for Yorkshire from 2008–14, told a British parliamentary committee that he had faced “inhuman treatment” during his time with the county.

The scandal shocked the English game and caused damage to Yorkshire’s sponsors, with the England and Wales Cricket Board suspending the county from hosting international or major matches at Headingley.

New Yorkshire President Kamlesh Patel promised “seismic change” when Roger Hutton took office.

“It has been a whirlwind since I appeared before MPs almost two months ago, and what Yorkshire and Lord Patel have done to bring about change is certainly right,” Rafique wrote in his Daily Mail column. A step in that direction.”

“So I believe it is the right time to say that he should be given back international cricket which is very important for his survival. The people of Yorkshire should be able to see England in Tests and white-ball games at Headingley this summer. ,

Rafiq said the county needs support to move in the right direction.

“If we are asking an institution to look at itself then we should recognize when it starts showing up and it is really regrettable and try to start fixing things,” Rafiq said.

“Yorkshire needs support and help to keep moving in the right direction. Looks like they’re ready to do the right thing now.”
