RCB won the toss and elected to bat against UP Warriors in the eighth match of WPL at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat in the eighth game of the inaugural Women’s Premier League at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and said, ‘We would like to bat first.

“Looks to be a good wicket. We have seen in the tournament that a good total on the board helps,” he continued.

“As a bowling unit, we had a word about the bowling plans with respect to short boundaries.”

Royal Challengers Bangalore have dropped to the fifth and last spot in the table after losing all the three matches they have played so far.

“We didn’t want to start like this, but it’s a long tournament, we want to keep our heads high,” Mandhana said on her team’s poor performance in the first three games.

RCB started their campaign with their game against Delhi Capitals amid huge expectations following their strong showing in the auction. Nevertheless, the Karnataka team lost against the capital city team by 60 runs.

They then face Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians, who defeated the Bengaluru unit by 9 wickets.

RCB registered their third defeat in as many matches as they lost to Gujarat Giants by 11 runs in their third outing.

The Bangalore team will look to get their first win in the WPL against the UP Warriors.

UP, on the other hand, are placed third in the tournament after winning just one of the two matches they have played so far.

UP won their first match against Gujarat Giants by 3 wickets and a ball to spare, before losing to Delhi Capitals in their second match as the capital city side registered a massive 42-run win.

UPW captain Alyssa Healy said, “We wanted to bat first. Hopefully, we can restrict them to something we can chase. The pitch isn’t going to change much.”

Healy said, “Shabnim Ismail is missed, Grace Harris is back, much to everyone’s delight.”

“You look at the other night, we lost by 40 but if someone had been with Tahlia, we could have come closer,” said the Australian, reflecting on his side’s loss to DC.
