Coming out of the Women’s Premier League auction, Mumbai Indians look to be one of the most balanced teams in the inaugural edition of the tournament. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur has been made the captain of the unit. The franchise roped him into the squad for a staggering price of Rs 1.8 crore. Mumbai broke the bank for England mainstay Natalie Sciver, who joined the unit for Rs 3.2 crore. Among other top buys, the franchise will have the services of India bowling all-rounder Puja Vastrakar, wicketkeeper-batsman Yastika Bhatia and Caribbean star Hayley Mathews.

Mumbai Indians will lead the WPL with arguably the most dangerous batting unit. They have included as many all-rounders as possible, which can be a big decision. However, Mumbai’s bowling department looks immature in comparison, with only Vastrakar having experience of playing at the top level. In such a situation, it will be a big challenge for captain Harmanpreet Kaur to use all-rounders at the right time.

Mumbai Indians has appointed an all women coaching staff. Former England captain Charlotte Edwards will work with him as the head coach India Veteran Jhulan Goswami as Mentor. Furthermore, the Mumbai-based franchise has roped in former Indian all-rounder Devika Palshikar as their batting coach.

Mumbai Indians are set to begin their maiden WPL journey with the opening match against Gujarat Giants on March 4 at the DY Patil Stadium. Let’s take a look at their complete matches in the tournament:
