WPL 2023, UP Warriorz: Full Schedule, Match Timings, Venue And Squad

Last Update: March 02, 2023, 12:42 PM IST

UP Warriors is one of the non-IPL teams that feature in the inaugural Women’s Premier League. Looking at their total purchases on the day of the auction, the franchise seems to have amassed a solid side. Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Alyssa Healy, who joined the team for a sum of Rs 70 lakh, will captain the Warriors. Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma, who was their costliest buy, will serve as Healy’s deputy. Deepti was signed by the franchise for a remarkable price of Rs 2.6 crore.

In other notable inclusions, Sophie Ecclestone, who currently tops the ICC Women’s T20I Bowler Rankings, will add some extra strength to their bowling lineup. Apart from Deepti and Ecclestone, UP Warriors will be served by promising spinners like Rajeshwari Gaikwad and Parshvi Chopra.

Healy’s Australia teammate Tahila McGrath – the No. 1 T20I batsman in the world – will need to shoulder most of the responsibility in the batting department. India’s U19 women’s team vice-captain Shweta Sehrawat, coming off the back of the T20 World Cup triumph, is expected to join Healy in the opening slot. Deepti and Devika Vaidya, the other spinning all-rounders acquired by the team, can do a fair amount of batting lower down the order.

UP Warriors have appointed John Lewis as their head coach, while Anju Jain will serve as the bowling coach and Lisa Sthalekar will be the mentor. They will play their first match against Gujarat Giants on March 5 at the DY Patil Stadium. Let’s take a look at their full fixtures:
