A person paid Rs 30,000 as bus fare for the ride.

Surjeet and his group reached Jeddah, Saudi Arabia by an Indian Airlines flight and later flew to Delhi thanks to ‘Operation Kaveri’ launched by the Government of India to evacuate Indians stranded in Sudan.

One of Surjit’s family members said, “He (Surjit) went to Khartoum in March 2023 to work for MTN Telecom Company Software. He was cut off from the outside world after fighting broke out between the country’s army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). He could not get in touch with his family in India.
