The highlight of this innings was the fight between Rishabh Pant and the Indian fast bowlers. Pant initially seemed clueless as Shami and Umesh Yadav were on song and swung the ball in both directions. But once he was settled, he smashed the fast bowlers in his flamboyant style and played a blistering innings of 76 runs in 87 balls.

Chasing a target of 367 runs on the final day of the game, Gill played a quick innings of 62 runs, showing some aggressive shots. However, he suffered a major setback when skipper Rohit Sharma tested positive for COVID-19 on the last day of the match. Rohit is isolated and will be a big doubt for the upcoming Test. Earlier, Rohit’s opening partner KL Rahul was ruled out of the Test match due to a knee injury.

The opening pair of Rohit and Rahul played a key role in securing a 2-1 lead over England. While Rohit scored a scintillating century at the Oval, Rahul made his mark on the Lord’s Honors Board after scoring a match-winning century. In-form batsmen Shubman Gill and Srikanth can replace the opening pair in India’s final Test match.
