However, Pujara’s father and coach Arvind said that his son could make a comeback to the national team and has already started his preparations for the Duleep Trophy.

“He is very strong mentally. I can’t comment on the selection. But from what I have seen, he is batting at his best. In fact, he was back in the nets the same day after the West Indies squad was announced,” he added. Was working hard.” Said.

“He has started preparing for the Duleep Trophy and will continue to play on the county circuit. As a father and coach, there is no reason for me to believe why he cannot make a comeback.”

After India’s No.3 player was dropped, veterans like Sunil Gavaskar criticized the selectors for the decision to drop the 35-year-old Pujara. Gavaskar had said that Pujara was made a scapegoat for the batsman’s failure in the WTC final.

“Why has he been made a scapegoat for our batting failures? He has been a faithful servant of Indian cricket, a calm and capable man. But because he does not have millions of followers on any platform who will clamor in his case ” Gavaskar said, “If he falls, you make him fall? This is beyond comprehension.

“What is the criteria to remove him and keep others who have failed. I don’t know because nowadays there is no media interaction with the chairman of selectors or anybody where you can actually ask these questions.”
