Army foils infiltration attempt: The Indian Army has foiled an infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir’s Krishna Ghati sector in which a soldier sustained bullet injuries during an anti-infiltration operation, officials said on Saturday.

The injured soldier was taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to officials, three infiltrators who were trying to flee towards the LoC were surrounded by the jawans. The anti-infiltration operation was being jointly run by the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

“International Anti-Infiltration Operation by Indian Army and JKP. An infiltration bid was foiled in the Krishna Ghati sector on 23/24 June, in which 1 soldier Ganghot was injured and evacuated. 3 infiltrators who were running towards the Line of Control were cornered by our own troops and were seen falling near the Line of Control,” officials said.

Infiltration bid foiled in Machil sector

Four terrorists were gunned down in Machil sector of Jammu and Kashmir, foiling an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC).

Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet, “In a joint operation, Army & Police have gunned down four #terrorists who were trying to infiltrate into our side from PoJK in Kala Jungle of Machhal Sector in #Kupwara.”

Security forces recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition and narcotics from the encounter site in Machil sector of Kupwara district.

Giving details of the operation, a defense spokesman said the Army detected suspicious movement in the Kala Jungle of Machil sector during the intervening night of June 22 and June 23.

“… terrorist activity was monitored during the night. At about 0430 hrs, four terrorists were seen crossing the Line of Control from Pakistan. The ambush parties engaged them on coming within effective range. Intense firing took place , As a result of which all the four terrorists will be gunned down, without causing any harm to our forces.”

The spokesman said that nine AK series rifles, three pistols, four grenades, 288 AK and pistol rounds, 55 packets of suspected narcotics and other huge quantity of war-like articles were recovered.
