VNSGU will spend Rs 21 lakh to assess the cleanliness of toilets. Surat News – Times of India

Surat: As part of preparations for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) inspection to be held next year, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) has planned to enhance its cleanliness. Hence, they will now spend Rs 21 lakh to get feedback about the quality Cleanliness in its toilets, while no one mentions anything about the quality of their education!
VNSGU Syndicate, However, put the brakes on the ambitious project and put it on hold.
“as part of Swachhata Abhiyan We are trying to monitor the quality of cleanliness in the toilets of the university campus. However, it is yet to be accepted by the syndicate,” said KN Chavda, vice-chancellor, VNSGU.
The university plans to install feedback devices in 320 toilets in university departments, conference halls and administrative offices. As for the device, it was supposed to cost Rs 11 lakh and its internet connectivity was estimated to cost Rs 10 lakh.
In the Feedback Mechanism, the feedback given by any user will be automatically stored in the University’s server and the officials can monitor the cleanliness. Those who are involved in cleaning the toilets will also have to enter the details of the cleaning done.
The irony is that no transparent internet based system has been developed so far in which the feedback of the students about the quality of education is taken.
“There is no transparent mechanism to check the quality of education in VNSGU. Earlier, the proposal was rejected by the finance committee but it was again proposed to the syndicate,” said former syndicate member Bhavesh Rabari. He said that teachers are being kept busy in administrative work.
