Vikrant Massey: OTT used to have a lot of sex, abuse unnecessarily but today it is much more professional. Specific

Vikrant Massey, who is currently garnering praise for ZEE5’s original film ‘Forensic’, has said that OTT platforms have evolved for the better over the years. The actor made his web debut in 2017 with the YouTube mini-series ‘Rise’. At that time, there were not many OTT platforms available in the country.

Today, Vikrant has become one of the popular faces in the Indian OTT arena and has several acclaimed web projects like ‘Mirzapur’, ‘Broken But Beautiful’, ‘Made in Heaven’ and ‘Criminal Justice’.

“When I started there was hardly any streaming platform. I feel Netflix There was only one who was there and people were making independent things on YouTube. When we started it was almost like a rush. Everything was available and a lot of people initially saw a lot of content where people were very openly abusing and there was a lot of sex, unnecessary abusive language but now with the advent of giants like ZEE5, Prime Video, many things at one go. Got a definite way or shape. I don’t blame those people because many people didn’t know what to do with so much freedom. We went overboard but I think today the structure has a form and far more professionalism,” the actor told us.

Vikrant further added that OTT has given him better opportunities to explore his acting potential beyond cinema and TV. “Regarding my work, I am really grateful that I am still getting the opportunity to work because very rarely do you meet someone who has been acting for almost 18 years and I am 35 now. And people are still supporting my effort OTT has really changed a lot for me in a very positive way,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vikrant reunites with ‘Forensics’ director Vishal Furia after Disney+’s critically acclaimed season one Hotstar Show ‘criminal justice’. The film is a Hindi remake of the 2020 Malayalam film of the same name starring Tovino Thomas and Mamta Mohandas.

When asked what new they will try to bring with the remake, Vikrant said, “The comparisons are especially due to social media and they are superstars in their own right. But that would be unfair as such was never the intention. We never expressed our desire to remake it. We adapted that film and we brought in our own approach to the story, which was loved by a lot of people. This is a fresh take. This is a huge thing. It is our right and we have collectively decided to spin it our way for our target audience.”

‘Forensics’ is currently streaming on ZEE5.
