Udupi: In a shocking incident, a professor of Manipal University in Karnataka’s Udupi on Friday (November 25) called a Muslim student a terrorist. A video of a student thrashing a professor for calling him a ‘terrorist’ went viral on social media and the department has ordered an inquiry into the matter.
In the video going viral on social media platforms, the student is seen scolding the professor for calling him a terrorist. “How can you call me a terrorist..it’s not funny…you are a professional, you are teaching…you can’t call me like that.”
The professor can be heard saying ‘sorry’ for his insensitive remark, however the student said, “Sorry doesn’t change the way you think and present yourself.”

Manipal University started investigation in the matter
After the incident, the university started an inquiry into the matter and asked the professor not to take classes till the investigation is complete.
The Manipal Institute of Technology said, “The institute has already initiated an inquiry into the incident and the staff concerned have been barred from classes till the completion of the inquiry.”
It added, “We want everyone to know that the Institute does not condone such behavior and that this isolated incident will be dealt with in accordance with the laid down policy.”
The student who was called a ‘terrorist’ by the professor is being counseled and has decided not to lodge any complaint against the teacher.
