UAE: UAE’s Sharjah adopts three-day weekend – Times of India

Dubai: Southern gulf the emirate of Sharjah On Thursday announced a change to a three-day weekend for the official sector.
trick comes after United Arab Emirates On Tuesday it was reducing the official work week to four-and-a-half days and changing its weekends to Saturdays and Sundays.
Going a step further, the Sharjah Executive Council stated that its decision was taken “in line with” United Arab Emirates vision to enhance its competitive position”.
The working week for Sharjah’s government agencies is to be reduced from Monday to Thursday, and the weekend will run between Friday and Sunday.
Starting January 1, the switch will “support the business environment and economic market, and keep pace with global developments”.
As well as becoming the only Gulf country not to have a Friday-Saturday weekend, the resource-rich and ambitious UAE is now engaging with the non-Arab world.
