UP: Police to maintain strict implementation of COVID-19 protocol at Mela premises in Prayagraj. Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: With the new version of COVID-19 adding to the daunting task for the Magh Mela officials on the banks of the Ganges, the police officials have decided to determine UP 13 police stations and 36 police outposts for strict monitoring and implementation covid-19 protocol,
SP (Traffic), Arun Kumar Dixit has been appointed as the nodal officer for the month-long Magh Mela, which is scheduled to start from January 14, 2022 and end on March 1, 2022.
Dixit told TOI that there would be strict implementation of the COVID protocol in the Mela premises.

However, he said that a total of 13 police stations and 36 police outposts would be set up for surveillance, crowd and traffic management and elaborate security measures.
The SP claimed that the police is currently working on a crowd and traffic management plan for devotees and pilgrims coming from far-flung areas during the month-long religious fair.
A plan has also been made to maintain social distancing in the ghats and camps.
As part of the plan, additional forces and volunteers from NGOs, civil defense and others will be deployed at stable locations, including confluence nose, time Road, Parade and Jhansi area.
“Once land is allotted to the Mela Police to set up police stations and outposts, we will set up police stations at stable points like Parade, Kotwali, Mahaveer Ji, Akshayvat, Sangam, Jal Police, Mahila Thana, Arail. Khak Chowk, Jhansi, Kalpwasi and Prayagwal,” said the nodal officer, adding, “Thirty-six police outposts will also be set up in the mela premises.”
There are plans to make special arrangements in densely populated areas to maintain social distancing. With a population density of more than three persons per square metre, the Sangam Noj area has always been considered as the most attractive and popular point for devotees and pilgrims till last year’s mega religious event.
In addition, the Mela Police is also drafting an area wise security plan to maintain the COVID-19 protocol and additional mobile pickets will be deployed at the stationary points. It is estimated that around 3,000 police personnel will be deployed in and around the Magh Mela complex.
The number of policemen will be increased on the days of the main bath. Unlike in previous years, social and cultural organizations will not be allowed to set up stalls and pandals or camps in the Magh Mela premises. There will also be no narrator programs.
Emphasis is also being laid on maintaining security at the ghats and for this adequate number of water policemen, PAC (Flood Department) and swimmers will be deployed. Deep water barricading will also be done at all the ghats and the ghats will have enough strength so that social distancing is maintained among the devotees.
